About Us
BECOMING ADELE by Eric Houston
GERRY COHEN (Director) BECOMING ADELE marked Gerry’s first return to
local theater since the 1984 production of Tom Stoppard’s play AFTER
MARITTE starring Mark Blankfield.  He is especially excited to be joining
forces with the vastly talented Kimberly Stern.
In 1975 Gerry became one of the youngest directors ever to stage a
commercial production of Shakespeare in London.  Working with a wonderful
group of young actors – including David Bradley who went on to great
success with the National Theatre of Great Britain – he mounted a three-hour
anthology program, a sort of Bard’s Greatest Hits that ran for a summer.
Since turning his attention to the small screen, Gerry has directed hundreds
of half-hour comedy episodes. Among the shows he is most proud of are
MARRIED WITH CHILDREN; THE DREW CAREY SHOW; GEORGE LOPEZ;
WANDA AT LARGE, and currently FREDDIE.
Born and raised in New York, Gerry is a huge Yankees fan and can often be
found on the number four train heading uptown to the Bronx.  His favorite play
is the 5-4-3 double-play and his favorite musical is Pacific Overtures.  Gerry
would like to thank Charlie Curtis for her help and support during the
preparation of this project.  He’d also like to dedicate this production to the
memory of his father Alex Cohen, who spent a certain amount of his own life in
the theatre.
